Today we filmed in the basement, previously to this Alfie and Rowen went down to the basement and took some photo's so that we could plan further and adapt more on our work. Later in the week we went down in a group and all of took part doing different tasks, Alfie and I played the role of 'fake Alice' and Ellie and Rowen filmed, we had to use different lighting skills to make the scene more effective.
Today I did some extra work on Saul Bass. Saul Bass was the creator of opening title sequences. I had to look at a lot of his work and I made a good page entirely on him.
http://hughesleemanpoultersmall.weebly.com/saul-bass.html As a group we decided to go and film up Chosen Hill and in the school basement. We chose all the different props and we decided who in our group would plat 'fake Alice' which was me and who would play the 'real Alice' which ended up being Alfie. Rowen was to be the director and camera man and Ellie would help him to do this while she helped with the main directing and the lighting in different scenes. We had to think throughly about how we would get up to Chosen Hill and how we would use the basement at school in the correct way. We went through a lot of changed ideas as a group and we were constantly adding in new parts and getting rid of silly ideas.
We decided to watch over some fairy tale type horror films, we also watched a lot of 'Alice Returns' clips from the video game. Our final idea came from the video game 'Alice Returns' and we adapted this into our own thing. When watching other horror clips we decided it wasn't for our group and we wanted to go down the route of something that no group had done for a while.
Today we decided where our titles were going to go. We also decided on the names that would be use in the opening title sequence. We had much inspiration of how and where to put our titles, we had to watch two different starts of films to help with this inspiration. We watched 'The Grudge' and 'Severance' both these opening title sequences had different ways of how the direction put in the titles.
Today we are filming the death of Alice and we are going to now tie Alice up and the rabbit is going to come back and he is going to murder the fake alice. The fake Alice has been tied up and left in the boiler room and she is waiting to be killed. The boiler room that we are using has a room with water on the floor so we have used to the best advantage the water and have used it to make the death of Alice become more intense. Alice then is waiting patiently to die. The rabbit comes back and as a un-reveled carnivore. This is the death of Alice
Today we changed the idea for our filming. We have now decided to use Chosen Hill instead of the field, we are also using a real alice and a fake Alice. The fake Alice will be captured by the rabbit and held in the boiler room. From this point onwards the real Alice isn't in the filming. Alice in the opening title sequence is walking around the woods and she comes across the mad hatters tea party and he says 'Welcome back Alice' he then decided to pour her a cup of blood while he an the rabbit are sat at the tea party.
Our practice horror was called 'The Killing' for this we had to make up a story line and base a short opening title sequence. 'The Killing' is based on a young girl who is followed and killed. Before this task we had recently learnt about the angles, movements and different shots which for us made this task a lot better than our preliminary. We then went out and filmed and we use a lot of different angles and editing techniques which made this task a lot better than it previously was.
This was one of our first tasks when filming. We had to learn how to use the camera and to do this we filmed 'The Exchange', this helped mainly in the editing process which the team worked together to finally produce the final cut. The clip could be improved but for a first task it was very impressive.
