The Preliminary Task (RS)
The preliminary task for this introduction requires an understanding of continuity, which is a key principle of media. Before we started to plan and film our actual opening sequence we did a preliminary take which helped develop our media skills which we would need for our final product. An example of a skill we learn't was not to move the camera more than 180 degrees from the centre of conversation because it can seem to the audience that the subject has moved from the original position. Another example is that we were taught to keep continuity during filming a series of scenes, i.e. using the same props, same positioning of the actors.
What we DID (rs, el)
In our preliminary task we filmed a male teacher disciplining a student for throwing an object across his class room. We used a variety of shots and angles in the preliminary opening task. The shots we used were the over the shoulder shot, extreme long shot, long shot, mid shot. The angles we used were mostly neutral angles, however when we filmed the over the shoulder shot we used a higher angle to show to superiority of the teacher.
