After filming and editing our opening title sequence we needed to analyse all of the decisions we made during this process. While doing this i helped create our edit decision list and our sound analysis.
Before filming Rowen and I went down to the schools boiler room to see how we could use the space for our Final piece. We took some pictures of the area and created a breif storyboard of the clips we wanted to film. We then returned to the area with Elyssia to film. During the filming process both myself and Elyssia were used to film as the 'Fake Alice'.
As we were filming outside at mid-day we knew that our lighting would be quite bright. This lighting was ideal and we didnt need to use any extra lights as our scenes showed up clearly on camera. We knew already that this lighting would be perfect for what we wanted to create but we were able to edit the clips accordingly. While filming in the boiler room we knew it would be a darker lighting and therefore we needed additional lighting, for this we used D-lamps but positioned them so that they only gave a small amount of light as we wanted our clips to be fairly dark so we were able to build tension in our Opening Title Sequence.
Rowen and I decided to use some of our free time to do some more extra work towards make-up for our Final piece. This time we chose to show a burn on Rowens forearm. I was able to use a range of products to create this look and we were really happy with the end result.
Before filming we needed to plan where and what we wanted to film. We decided that first of all we wanted to film using 'Chosen Hill'. We thought this would be a useful location as we could use the forest for our 'Mad-Hatter Tea Party' Scene. Rowen and I then went to look at our schools boiler room and came to the conclusion that it would be the perfect setting for the ending of our Opening Title Sequence. We liked the lighting and atmosphere that it had and knew that it would work well on camera.
During this task we showed which films we had taken inspiration from for our Opening Title Sequence and what we had researched about it. First we researched all aspects of 'Alice in Wonderland' as this was what we wanted to focus on mainly for our Final Piece. We took the majoraty of our inspiration from the video game 'Alice: Madness Returns' because this has more of a horror based theme. We also took inspiration from the Opening Title Sequences of Shrooms and Dexter as we liked the suggestive and symbolic editing and filmimg.
For our 'Webiste Research' task we researched a variety of different websites including, Netflix and LoveFilm. We did this so we were able to see which films are currently in popular demand, we were also able to find out which of the different Genres and Sub-Genres were in demand at that time. We took time to specifically look at the 'Horror Genre' as this is the area we will be focusing on for our Final Opening Title Sequence, we saw which horrors were rated well and also rated badly.
Again, Rowen and I took it upon ourselves to try out some more pracitce make-up. Previously this had worked very well and we wanted to expand our knowledge of theatrical/horror makeup. I also wanted to show what other skillls we are able to incorperate into our Final Opening Title sequence. During this session I decided to show an 'Open Hand Wound' and a 'Small Cut'. I thought this would be very helpful as it shows both an extreme wound and a minor wound. Both pieces turned out to look very realistic and showed up very well on camera.
Task 9 - During this task we watched the opening titles of 'Severance' and 'The Grudge'. We were told to focus on the titles that appeared on screen during the opening. We were then asked to put the titles in order of how they appeared on screen. We then compared the two different films we watched, focusing on which of the titles they used. Both of which used very similar titles with 'The Grudge' only missing out a few and 'Severance' using all of the titles necessary. Rowen and I then transferred this information onto our website and also came up with the title order that we would use during our own final opening title sequence.
Task 8 - For our eighth task we took all of the shots, angles and movements we had learned and created a 'practice horror'. We were challenged to include as many of the things we had learned as we could to make our horror look as realistic as possible. In this task i played the role of the victim. As well as helping with different scenes to match the shots we needed to use. I also contributed to the editing and editing ideas to produce the final video for our practice horror. Ours was called 'The Killing'.
